US beauty company sues cosmetic giant over its use of the name Interlude for a recently-launched fragrance.
US beauty company The Stephan Co is suing cosmetics giant Elizabeth Arden over its use of the name Interlude for a recently-launched fragrance.
The Stephan Co announced it has filed a claim Elizabeth Arden in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, seeking to block sales of "Provocative Interlude" scent by Elizabeth Arden, launched in the US in March.
The Stephan Co offers Interlude products under its Frances Denney brand, and claims the right to the Interlude trademark.
“Stephan is seeking an injunction barring Elizabeth Arden from selling the Provocative Interlude products, which are currently on sale in Macy's, Dillard's and other fine stores,” The Stephan Co said in a statement.
“Elizabeth Arden believes that the lawsuit filed by The Stephan Co is entirely without merit,” Elizabeth Arden responded.
“In fact, the US Trademark Office granted Elizabeth Arden a registration for the Provocative Interlude name and will fully assert its legal rights in this matter,” the company added.
