B. Skin Bath and Beauty Line Launched in Toronto

Gillian Downes created her sweet-smelling soy-based line to satisfy the girlie girl in all of us.

Bath and beauty expert Gillian Downes has expanded her exclusive body care line from the shelves of her Canadian kitchen where she spent more than a year mixing, stirring and cooking up bath bars, shower gels, crèmes and lotions.

"Your skin should be first & foremost when it comes to beauty." These are the words that have inspired B.Skin founder, Gillian Downes to create the B.Skin bath & beauty line.

After spending more than a year in the kitchen mixing, stirring, and cooking up bath bars, shower gels, cremes and lotions, Gillian set out to launch her own unique line of products for the ultimate beauty junkie. Three years later, B.Skin is opening its first retail location in the trendy King West Village. Located at 766 King Street West, the store will carry the full B.Skin line.

Products in the B.Skin collection are comprised of luxurious, natural ingredients like soy, shea and cocoa butter, sweet almond oil and avocado oil. Through the use of top-quality, natural ingredients the B.Skin collection promises to make customer's look and feel their best.

Unfortunately, most body lotions and cremes contain such chemicals as paraben preservatives and triethanolamine which may drive away many health-conscious beauty junkies.

The line consists of bath & beauty products: bath bars, soy milk shower gels, moisturizing shower gels, soy-infused lotions, soy-shea creme, black mineral mud, a deep cleansing wash and a range of decedent body butters.

Gillian approaches the design of B.Skin products from an eclectic and whimsical angle. "I want B.Skin to be fun and flirty. I want people to notice the products and understand that beauty doesn't have to be so medicated and formulaic."

Product names were chosen based on each product's "personality"; names include "Girly", "High Maintenance", "Am I Your Boo?" and "Diva", while scents remain sweet and personal, not overwhelming. We particularly liked the Sugar collection, while Black Mineral Mud and Fresh Daily Wash with tea tree oil are definitely worth trying.
