Katie Holmes' Weight Loss: Too Fast but Not Furious
In the past, women were often instructed to wait at least six weeks after giving birth to begin exercising. But the waiting game may be over.
Katie Holmes has sparked rumors of her fast weight loss after giving birth to daughter Suri with fiance Tom Cruise.
According to US Weekly, Katie Holmes has gained whopping 35 pounds during her pregnancy. Fit and athletic, 6' tall Katie stayed in shape by doing light cardio, like walking and strolling.
As a result, Katie Holmes gave birth to healthy 7-pound 7-ounce Suri who already has a body type perfect for sports!
Right after the birth Katie Holmes started a vigorous workout program designed for her by Sue Fleming, the creator of Buff brides home workout plan.
Doctors say that it's generally safe to begin exercising within days of delivery — or as soon as the mom feels ready if she didn't have C-section or a complicated birth.
Most women lose about 10 pounds during birth, including the weight of the baby, placenta and amniotic fluid. During the first week after delivery, women lose additional weight as they shed retained fluids.
Through diet and exercise, it's reasonable to lose about half a pound a week. It may take six months or even longer to return to your pre-pregnancy weight.
So with the help of math, losing 28 pounds in 6 weeks might be a bit too much, but with weight loss and gain everything is personal and determined by the body type and genetics.
