Lindsay Lohan is wearing an ankle bracelet that records even the slightest trace of alcohol. And Lindsay's wearing the black, clunky anklet voluntarily to prove she's serious about staying sober.

Accordig to INSIDE EDITION, the bracelet is called a "Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor," or SCRAM. It tracks the user's alcohol level by taking samples from the layer of sweat on everyone's skin. The person must be within 30 feet of a wireless modem once a day, allowing the data collected from their sweat to be transmitted to a secure web site.

 

The anklets are typically worn by alcohol offenders as part of their probation. If they drink, their probation officers are alerted. Former "Lost" star Michelle Rodriguez was required to wear one after drunk driving arrests in Hawaii and California.

But no government official is monitoring Lindsay, who was arrested for DUI and did a 45-day stint in rehab.
