"Everybody was saying I was fat so I did something about it," Mariah Carey, 36, revealed.
Mariah Carey says she has been working overtime with her personal trainer to fight the excess weight. She is doing daily crunches, push-ups, water aerobics, running and weight training.
Key word: daily.
To shed the excess pounds Mariah Carey adopted a diet of plain fish and soup taking all calorific treats off the menu.
Mariah called her eating habits a "really bleak diet, which is basically soups and fish prepared really blandly".
But she does know her limits: being too thin is no good for the voice, Mariah Carey says.
"Being thin would ruin my voice," the singer was reportedly sharing with her friend, "I want to be buff and beautiful."
