The new James Bond, Daniel Craig, has admitted that there was one thing he was not excited about becoming the Agent 007 – he hates guns.

Daniel Craig, 37, admitted: "I hate handguns. They are used to shoot people and as long as they are around, people will shoot each other.

"I've seen a bullet wound and it was a mess."

And it appears that Daniel Craig, the first man with blonde hair to play the superspy, wasn't interested in James Bond films when he was a kid. According to his mother Carol, he preferred watching plays.

"Most boys in the '70s were really into Bond but he wasn't especially," Craig's mother tells The Sun.

"He was more into the theatre."

Daniel starts shooting Casino Royale in January. Casino Royale is the first James Bond book written by Ian Fleming.
