10 Top Fashion Trends For Winter-2005
Velvet
Lush, seductive velvet tops all fabrics when it comes to warmth and instant chic. Limit the velvet intake to one piece, be it a supple tailored jacket or black velvet pants and keep all other ingredients of your look simple and casual for the perfect balance.

Vintage Before browsing your local Goodwill store, check local retailers such as H&M and Zara who eagerly embraced the vintage trend offering you retro chic with new-car smell. Not in mood for vintage head-to-toe? Popping a shiny brooch on your clutch is the perfect way to add a little vintage glamour to your outfit.

Jewelled hues
Deep purples in shiny bright satins were a big hit on the autumn/winter catwalks. Ruby red, amethyst purple, emerald green and sapphire blue are new blacks today. Wear them as freely as you would neutrals, but avoid clashing more than three colors in one outfit.

Tweeds
Tweed is the way to go this season – even for evening gowns. Feel free to invest into tweed accessories; they will stay in longer than you may think. To keep tweeds fresh, stay away from anything that look librarian, and experiment with unusual detailing, such as unusual colors, beaded or woven accessories and fancy high heels.

Ponchos
There is only one way to cover up this season: throw on a stylish poncho. If crocheted poncho is too much of flower power to you, chic fur tippet or a capelet is the stylish way to keep your shoulders warm at winter parties.

Bows
They're the epitome of ladylike chic and just the thing to update your winter wardrobe, and a silk ribbon belt is the most feminine way to hold pants or flowing skirt in place.

Chunky knits
Chunky sweaters and cardigans just like your grandma used to knit are the perfect way to cover up flimsy evening dresses and silk blouses this winter. Keeping warm has never been so chic – simply top off your sweater with a cute brooch and you're good to go. The key to making chunky knits appropriate for the office is preppy separates such as crisp white shirt and classic straight skirt or pants.

Jeans tucked in boots
Kate Moss got there first: pioneering the trend of tucking jeans not only in uggs, but also in knee-high boots. To pull off the look with aplomb skinny jeans are a must. Forget about bootcuts. Jeans with most tuckability: cropped stretch Guess?, cropped Lee, and good ol’ slim-fit Sevens.

Masculine
Menswear-inspired pieces are a lot of fun to play with. But don’t take this trend too seriously! A shirt and a tie with tweed pants scream for high heels, while a monogrammed cardigan is best worn with pencil skirt and a belt. By the way, tie makes a perfect belt too.

Flat boots
The most sensible of boots are back, in all variations from Wellingtons to wrestling boots. Dressier flat boots will make a cozy alternative to stilettos for the office, while elegant sporty wrestling boots work really well with wide-leg trousers in heavier fabrics, such as velvet and tweed, for a casual look.
