On September 7th, 2009, in the heart of Toronto, Yonge and Dundas Square will be transformed into a sea of green and yellow in celebration of the 1st annual Brazilian Day Canada.
The free event hosted by Globo TV's Luciano Huck, kicks off at 2 pm and will feature two of Brazil's biggest artists, Carlinhos Brown & band and Elba Ramalho.
The highly acclaimed Brazilian performers will be playing alongside various local artists from the Toronto area. The festival will be held on Labour Day Monday, which also marks Brazil's Independence Day.
The event is inspired by Brazilian Day New York, which attracts 1.5 million people per year while shutting down 25 blocks in the downtown region.
Toronto Mayor David Miller will be on hand to conduct the day's opening ceremonies showcasing Canada's largest multicultural city.
Everyone attending the event is asked to bring an item of non-perishable food for the Daily Bread food bank.
