Montreal-based fashion brand Falbala is created by two sisters,
Melanie and Sophie Veilleux.
What is your signature design?
Falbala line is classic and trendy with a feminine spirit. We use many delicate and different details like stitches, laces and combination of fabrics embellish the clothes to give sensuality to the women who wear it.
What does the name Falbala mean?
In French, the word “Falbala” came from “farbella” who mean lace and it means also an exquisite fabric ornament. Also, for us the word “falbala” is the incarnation of a beautiful woman.
What is your favorite piece from any of your collections?
The dress.
How would you describe your style?
Sexy and elegant.
What inspires you when you create a collection?
Usually it is a mood, a style of life that we want to see in our clothes. The fabrics also start the inspiration.
How do you collaborate as a duo? Do you find it difficult?
We do the design together, it is a way to give the best of our inspiration. It is not difficult because we are two sisters and we understand and know each other. We can argue but we always find the good way to share our differences. We share the same vision of fashion.
How would you describe a woman who wears your creations?
A woman who assume her feminine side and want to show the best part of herself in clothes who looks goods.
What is your innovation for the next season? A new hemline, fabric, or color?
It’s probably mix between the simple jersey and the nice silk print give an incredible match, between sport and luxury. We think it is an "innovation" in a simple way of thinking.
Are you planning to expand your collections?
Of course, but for the moment we try to concentrate our efforts in our clothes, to build a solid foundation. Our dream is to have accessories, lingerie and bags to match with the collections.
